For Whom You Build
Consisting of over 35,000 handmade paper boxes For Whom You Build was created over a 4 year period of time. The individual boxes measure 2.5" x 2.5" x 4". The work is presented in various form and function depending on the installation.
The collection of boxes are displayed on wax cast shipping palettes mimicking those of traditional palettes used for distribution and travel of commodity and material.
With the in-situ display of the boxes is a unique sculpture taking the form of a common palette jack. "Oppenheimer" as it is referred to is crafted from wood and is fully operational however the surface of which has been transformed into black carbon via the surface fire process of Shou Sugi Ban, the Japanese fire preservation technique.
